I'm sorry I haven't been around this past week. The first few days of last week I had a pretty bad cold that I developed over the weekend away. The rest of the week my electricity was out.
We had a storm here (MN) Wednesday night and my area was hit the hardest. I guess we had 70 mph straight-line winds, but some people insist that we had to have had a tornado. My family was lucky, we didn't have much to clean up, just a few branches. The people across the street of us lost five trees in the storm, three of them fell in their driveway. This older widow a few houses down from them lost a beautiful oak tree in her front yard; she said it was really hard because it's been there for a long time, and when the tree people came to start cutting it so that they could get it out of her driveway she was sitting outside watching them...it was really sad. A few houses down from me you couldn't even see their yard, with all the branches that were just peeled off the trees in their yard. One of their trees was split in half, half of it was leaning against their phone line. We just got our electricity back today.
This made me realize even more that we have to keep the people affected by Hurricane Katrina, and now Hurricane Rita (I don't even know what's been going on with that, we haven't had internet or TV) in our thoughts and prayers. I wasn't as upset by the lack of electricity as some people were because I just kept thinking about the people in Louisiana and Mississippi and other places affected...we have our homes, we have our families, we have our belongings, we had water, we were able to get around town and pick up batteries for flashlights and candles... So, yeah, we were really lucky.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know where I've been, and also let you know that I'll have some pictures up for the new challenge in the next few days. You'll have over a week to complete this challenge. I know what pictures I'd like to use for it, I just have to put them all together...I haven't had a chance to do that yet.
If there are any changes you'd like to see in the schedule of the challenges that would make the challenges more workable for you, please let me know!
